This spectacular kingfisher is a summer migrant to southern Africa and starts calling as soon as it
arrives. This loud trill is a territorial call usually given from a perch high up in a tree and is
repeated at regular intervals throughout the day. A Red-chested Cuckoo calls in the background of
this recording.
