A typical bushveld night sound is that of the tiny Scops Owl. A master at concealment, during the day
it sits quietly next to the main stem of a tree where it is almost invisible. At night its single-note
call is somewhat insect-like, and is often repeated over and over and can be heard from a long distance.
A lion roars in the background in this recording.
