For such a beautiful bird the Lilac-breasted Roller has a very harsh rather
unpleasant call that is given mainly during the breeding season
as part of its amazing arial display while flying above the
tree line. This bird was recorded calling from a perch in a large,
dead tree and several other rollers were perched in the same tree.
