Listening to this loud quacking one could easily think that it came from a large duck instead of a frog
only 40-50 mm in length. This is the Broad-banded Grass Frog (or Mozambique Ridged Frog) - a common
resident in flooded grasslands and temporary pans from northern South Africa up into Zambia.
It calls from the cover of grass tufts and despite its loud quack is difficult to find. Edible Bullfrogs
call in the background.
